To describe: The hip joint and its motions.

Concept introduction: Joints (articulations) are the place on the bone’s surface where two bones contact or meet between the bone and cartilage or between the bones or teeth. There are about 400 joints in the human body that allow both the movement and flexibility of the body. One such joint is the hip joint (coxal joint) that is a ball-and-socket variety of synovial joint.
