Chapter 9, Problem 9.1Q
To determine
The minimum size required for an entry door.
Expert Solution & Answer
Answer to Problem 9.1Q
Explanation of Solution
Building codes are used for regulating minimum standards of buildings to ensure the stability of the structure, conservation of energy, health and fire safety and security and for use of new technology and materials in the construction of buildings.
According to the building codes, the minimum recommended size of the entry doors may not be the same as the size of the entry doors in actual practice.
The minimum size of the entry door should be 32 inches in width, while in cases where spacious entry is required then the doors may be 36 inches wide.
