The complaint can be filed against any organization, company, or person. Lawsuits can also be filed against the patent of a company.
The advancements in technologies and researches have increased the patents in the biotech field and the companies are patenting genes, cells, and cell proteins. This has received a strong opposition from the researchers as the patented genes cannot be studied by others. The genes that are responsible for a disease get patented, thus it becomes more difficult for research and clinical purposes.
