Introduction:

The fibrous joint that is found only in the skull is termed as a suture. In this, bones are bound to each other by Sharpey'sfibres. Very little movements are allowed at sutures, providing elasticity of the skull. Such joints are synarthroses in nature. There are various types of sutures, such as plane sutures, limbous sutures, schindylesis, denticulate sutures, and serrate sutures.
