The relative and absolute ratios of different hydrogens in pair of compounds needs to be determined.

By using hydrogen NMR, it is possible to determine the number of hydrogens in each molecule which gives only the relative number of hydrogens and not the absolute. The peaks obtained from the H-NMR indicates that either there is one hydrogen, or more than 2 hydrogens based on the size of the peak but it cannot determine how many hydrogens.
