Two-dimensional array:

The two-dimensional array is also called as multi-dimensional array; it is used to store the rows and columns value and the values stored in an array are having the same data type.

• The main advantage is that one-dimensional array can hold only one type of value where as two dimensional array hold multiple sets of data in the form of rows and columns.
• The structure of a multi-dimensional array is similar to a table format (that is combination of rows and columns); it contains same type of columns.

Example:

//Declaring multi-dimensional array

  double testmarks[5][5];

Explanation:

The above statement is used to create a two-dimensional array with “5” rows and “5” columns; the first square bracket indicates the number of rows and the second square bracket indicates the number of columns in the array.
