Star schema:

Star schema is the simplest of data mart schema that are mostly used in creating data warehouses and dimensional databases.

• It is used by the dimensional database which contains data that are organized in the form of facts and dimensions.
• By the name it resembles the star where it will contain fact table at its center and dimension table radiating from the center.
• The contents of the fact table are completely normalized whereas contents of the dimension table can be non-normalized.
