Introduction:

There are several roles in the innovation process. They are: the inventor, champion, sponsor and critic. Each of these roles plays an important but differentiated role in the innovation process.

The inventor is the person who comes up with the idea of innovation for change. An idea champion is a person who perceives the need for change and the champions produce change within the organization, the sponsor refers to the investors/shareholders who support this innovative idea for change and sponsors the project, and lastly the critic is the person who watches from the sidelines as the change is innovated and then comments on their opinions regarding the idea.
