Decision structure:

Sequence structure cannot handle all types of tasks. These can be achieved using the decision structure. Example: “if” statement.

“if” statement:

The “if” statement is used to create a decision structure; it allows more than one execution path for program. If Boolean expression is true, the “if” statement causes one or more statements to be executed.

Indentation in the “if” statement:

While using the “if” statement, the following indentations should be followed:

• • The block of statements that follow the “if” statement should be indented.
• • The Python interpreter uses this to check where the block begins and ends.

Algorithm:

Algorithm to replace character‘t’ with its upper case version is as follows:

• • Iterate through the string using the “for” loop.
• • Using the “if” statement, check whether character is‘t’.
• • If character is “t”, convert to upper case.
• • Create a new string with the upper case “t” character using the concatenation operation.
• • Display a new string.
