Introduction

Eating disorders are chronic, extreme disturbances in eating habits. These eating disorders affect many people of all ages and genders. However, young women are the most likely sufferers. The two most common and therefore, well known, eating disorders are anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa. Those with anorexia have a grossly distorted body image and are on a constant quest to become ever thinner. Conversely, those with bulimia may maintain a normal weight. However, the methods they use to achieve this are far from healthy.
