Sequential access:

Sequential access is the method of accessing the data or records from a storage device in sequential order.

• Tape drive is an example of sequential access as it reads or writes data consecutively.

Direct access:

Direct access is the process of accessing the data directly from where the data is physically located on the device.

• It is also called as random access where the data can be located immediately without having to move consecutively through all the stored items.
