Chapter 8, Problem 11E
Summary Introduction

To draw: The structure of the mannose trisaccharide that is a part of the core N-linked oligosaccharide.

Introduction:

Biomolecules that are composed of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen are collectively called as carbohydrates. They are also known as sugars or saccharides. Based on the behavior on hydrolysis, carbohydrates can be classified into- monosaccharides, disaccharides, oligosaccharides, and polysaccharides. On hydrolysis, oligosaccharides can yield two to ten monosaccharide units and they are joined together using glycosidic linkage. These oligosaccharides are further classified into disaccharides, trisaccharides, tetrasaccharides, and pentasaccharides based upon the number of monosaccharide units they possess.
