Concept explainers
Perceptions of Threat Research has been carried out to measure the amount of intolerance that U.S. citizens have for left-wing Communists and right-wing Fascists, as indicated in the table. Note that the numbers are given as percents and each row sums to 100
United States | |||||
None at All | Don't Know | Not Very Much | Somewhat | Extremely | |
Left-Wing Communists | 13.0 | 2.7 | 33.0 | 34.2 | 17.1 |
Right-Wing Fascists | 10.1 | 3.3 | 20.7 | 43.1 | 22.9 |
(a) Find the probability that a randomly chosen U.S. citizen would have at least some intolerance of right-wing Fascists.
(b) Find the probability that a randomly chosen U.S. citizen would have at least some intolerance of left-wing Communists.
