Chapter 7.3, Problem 26E
In Exercises 26—31, estimate the area under each curve by summing the area of rectangles. Use the left endpoints, then the right endpoints, then give the average of those answers.
Oxygen Inhalation The graph below shows the rate of inhalation of oxygen (in liters per minute) by a person riding a bicycle very rapidly for 10 minutes. Estimate the total volume of oxygen inhaled in the first 20 minutes after the beginning of the ride. Use rectangles with widths of 1 minute.

- Hookworms are parasitic nematodes that live in the intestines of a host. Hookworms do their damage (often fatally) by draining blood from the intestinal wall. - The accompanying data contains the depth (in kilometers) and magnitude, measured using the Richter Scale, of all earthquakes in a particular region over the course of a week. Depth is the distance below the surface at which the earthquake originates. Complete parts (a) through (d) below. Click the icon to view the data on earthquakes. - selve the linear sV stemarrow_forwardI need help finding/rounding height to the nearest CM and same with weight in KG Thanks so much!!arrow_forwardPrices of diamonds are determined by what is known as the 4 Cs: cut, clarity, color, and carat weight. The prices of diamonds go up as the carat weight increases, but the increase is not smooth. For example, the difference between the size of a 0.99-carat diamond and a 1-carat diamond is undetectable to the naked human eye, but the price of a 1-carat diamond tends to be much higher than the price of a 0.99 diamond. In this question, we use two random samples of diamonds, 0.99 carats and 1 carat, each sample of size 23, and compare the average prices of the diamonds. In order to be able to compare equivalent units, we first divide the price for each diamond by 100 times its weight in carats. That is, for a 0.99-carat diamond, we divide the price by 99. For a 1 carat diamond, we divide the price by 100. The distributions and some sample statistics are shown below I have attached the questions and the chart in the images section.
