Interpretation:

The quantum yield $\left(\varphi \right)$ of the given reaction is to be calculated.

Concept introduction: If an atom absorbs energy then this atom gets excited from the lower energy orbital to the higher energy orbital. This state of an atom is termed as excited state. The energy absorbed by an atom is calculated by the Planck’s equation. This equation states that energy is inversely proportional to the wavelength as,
$E=\frac{hc}{\lambda }$

The quantum yield $\left(\varphi \right)$ of light-induced chemical reaction is given as,
$\varphi =\frac{\text{Number}\text{of}\text{reaction}\text{events}}{\text{Number}\text{of}\text{photons}\text{absorbed}}$

To determine: The quantum yield $\varphi$ of the given reaction.
