Introduction:

The mode of fertilization in mammals is internal fertililization. In this mode the fertilization of sperm and ovum is takes place inside the oviducts of the female. The formation of zygote is followed by the embryo formation. The mechanism of fertilization involves a large number of steps, like translocation and capacitation of the sperm followed by hyperactivation, thermotaxis, chemotaxis etc. The use of contraceptive helps in prevention of fusion of egg and sperm thus leads in fertility control.
