The vertebral column is also known as a spinal column. It is the part of the axial skeleton extending from the skull to the pelvis portion and forms the vertical axis of the body. The vertebrae of the vertebral column allow movement, flexibility, and provide support to the head, neck, and trunk region of the body. It also supports the spinal cord which passes via vertebral column canal.
