Introduction:

A game bird flight muscle has depended on the complete use of $\text{glucose-}1\text{-phosphate}$. The consumption of $\text{glucose-}1\text{-phosphate}$ results in the generation of large amounts of energy in the form of ATP. The $\text{glucose-}1\text{-phosphate}$ is generated by the degradation of stored muscle glycogen by an enzyme glycogen phosphorylase. At the time of “panic flight”, the glycogen breakdown rate in game birds gets elevated.
