Concept Introduction:
The interstitial growth occurs inside the cartilage. The chondrocytes present in the lacunae divides mitotically. The newly formed cells are called chondroblasts. The matrix is synthesized by these two chondroblasts and they mature to form chondrocytes. The increase in growth of matrix leads to more internal growth.
