Interpretation: The average time a student spends in the pharmacy is to be calculated if he or she stays to pick up the Rx.
Concept Introduction:
The entire process is built up of four steps — Drop-off, Fill, Pickup, and Paying the Cashier. Students have an option to leave the system after they drop their Rx and re-join at the time of pickup three hours later. When the students leave the system after dropping the Rx, the Rx only moves in the system from filling to pickup. After the pickup, however, the flow units become student and Rx both together.
Any flow unit, when flows through a process, follows L’s Law which states that the Work in Progress and given by,
