How students can be motivated by forcing equitable grade distribution with C as average grade.
Case Summary: Grade inflation is a common concern in Colleges and Universities these days where 75% of students achieve an A. Colleges and Universities need to take serious steps towards checking on grade inflation as this can sap away the student’s motivation to work hard. Organizations also find it difficult to evaluate candidates’ transcripts if grades are inflated. Also for teachers and professors it is less motivating to accurately assess and estimate student’s performance and to teach them through strong grading feedback.
Interpretation: If majority of students gets C as an average grade, than will this equitable grade distribution motivate the students to work harder.
Adequate Information: Forcing equitable grade distribution with C as average grade will motivate students as there will remain always a chance to score a higher grade than C if a student has performed extraordinarily good or given a remarkable performance.
