A cell is a key unit present in living organisms that forms the structure and performs all the functions of a living organism.

For an asteroid to be considered a cell, it must possess the characteristics of a cell. The characteristics of a cell are as follows:
1) Reproduction: A cell possesses the ability to reproduce and form daughter cells that are identical or similar to it. This property is possessed by every living organism and thus must be present in the asteroid.
2) Growth: A cell can grow in terms of its number and mass. An increase in numbers refers to the process of cell division and that of increase in growth refers to increasing the size of the cell.
3) Homeostasis: Every cell has this ability to maintain its stable internal conditions and thus this property must also be possessed by the asteroid.
4) Consciousness: It is the property of living organisms to respond to their environment.
