Explanation of Solution

Consider the array “primes” which has been declared in the Self Check 1:

int[] primes = {2, 3, 5, 7, 11};

After the execution of the given loop:

After executing the given loop, the “primes” variable contains the following values:

3, 4, 6, 8, 12

Explanation:

At first iteration,

• The value of “i” is “0” and the condition “0 < 5” is “true”.
  • The statement “primes[0]++” will increment the value stored in the 0^th index of  the “primes” array and the value of  the 0^th index will become “3” (that is, “2 + 1 = 3”).
• Now, the value of the variable “i” has been incremented by “1”, which means, the “i” value will become “1”.

At second iteration,

• The value of “i” is “1” and the condition “1 < 5” is “true”.
  • The statement “primes[1]++” will increment the value stored in the 1^st index of  the “primes” array and the value of the 1^st index will become “4” (that is, “3 + 1 = 4”).
• Now, the value of the variable “i” has been incremented by “1”, which means, the “i” value will become “2”.

At third iteration,

• The value of “i” is “2” and the condition “2 < 5” is “true”.
  • The statement “primes[2]++” will increment the value stored in the 2^nd index of the “primes” array and the value of  the 2^nd index will become “6” (that is, “5 + 1 = 6”)...
