Introduction:

Microbial metabolism is defined as the metabolism by which microbes obtain energy and nutrients to grow, reproduce, and live. Phosphorus, sulfur, iron, and magnesium are the essential element for the growth of microbes. Phosphorus is the element which is present in the DNA. It is present in the phosphodiester linkages of DNA. It also helps in signal transduction.

Sulfur compounds help in bonding and are present in proteins and enzymes. They help in making disulfide bond. Iron is a good source of energy. Hemoglobin and myoglobin contain iron. Magnesium is very important element that helps in ion functioning.
