Concept introduction:
The ideal gas equation can be used to determine pressure, volume, moles and temperature of gases. The equation can be written as:
PV = nRT
Here:
- P = Pressure (atm)
- V = Volume (L)
- n= Number of moles of gases
- R = Gas constant (L.atm/mol.K)
- T = Temperature (K)
If we collect the gas over water or wet gas, in that case the total pressure is always equal to the sum of gas pressure and water vapor pressure.
