An Activity on Arrow(AOA) network diagram for a given sequence of project activities between different nodes. In the AOA network diagram, the arrow represents an activity which has starting point and an ending point. The starting and ending node points are in an activity diagram. The activity consumes time and other resources, which are shown by the arrow between two nodes. a. AOA network diagram representing the project: AOA diagram as shown below, here nodes are represented using circles, letter shows the activity and numbers denotes the estimated time. b. Identifying all the possible paths: There are 11 possible paths found in the AOA network diagram. The following shows the possible paths and their duration period in days. 1 . A → D → F → G → I → K → L = 10+4+6+4+6+8+10 = 48 days . 2 . A → D → F → H → K → L = 10+4+6+8+8+10 = 46 days . 3 . B → F → G → I → K → L = 12+6+4+6+8+10 = 46 days . 4 . B → F → H → K → L = 12+6+8+8+10 = 44 days . 5 . B → F → G → J = 12+6+4+12 = 34 days . 6 . A → D → F → G → J = 10+4+6+4+12 = 36 days . 7 . A → E → I → K → L = 10+8+6+8+10 = 42 days . 8 . A → E → J = 10+8+12 = 30 days . 9 . C → H → K → L = 6+8+8+10 = 32 days . 10 . C → G → I → K → L = 6+4+6+8+10 = 34 days . 11 . C → G → J = 6+4+12 = 22 days . c. Critical path and its duration: The critical path is the longest path in the projects. Therefore, the longest path in the project is “ A → D → F → G → I → K → L ” with the duration of 48 days. Hence, the critical path of the project corresponds to 48 days. d. Shortest possible time: The shortest possible time needed to complete the project is 22 days. The corresponding path for shortest possible time is “ C → G → J ”.
