Harry and Mike were both skillful and efficient workers in the cutting room of Excellent Garment Factory. Several months ago, there was a vacancy for a supervisory position in the cutting room. Everyone in the factory knew that either Harry or Mike would get promoted to that position. Mike was given the supervisory position, and, as the two men were friends, Harry was not too upset or disappointed. They remained good friends, and Mike made a special effort to spend a lot of time with Harry to show that he had not changed. In fact, he even granted Harry a slight increase in pay in recognition of his good performance. Moreover, since Harry was good at his job, Mike often requested him to demonstrate his cutting skills to other workers so that they could learn from him. However, this did not seem to work.
