Introduction:
Different types of culture media are developed for establishing the culture of microorganism in laboratory conditions. The Simmons citrate agar medium is a citrate media which consists of sodium citrate as the key source of carbon. The citrate media is selective and it allows growth of only gram negative bacteria. The citrate media supports growth of bacteria but it is not visible to eyes easily. Bacteria utilize citrate as a source of carbon, if grown in this particular media.
