Concept introduction:

The condition of a low number of red blood cells or low quantity of hemoglobin in the red blood cells is termed as anemia. The anemia occurs due to the deficiency of iron in the blood. Anemia is classified based on the causes such as maturation defects or excessive destruction of red blood cells (RBC). Different types of anemia occur due to the deficiency of iron, folic acid, or vitamin B₁₂.
