Concept introduction: A gland is an individual cell or a multicellular organ (mostly made of epithelial cells) that produces and releases particular substances that could perform specific actions in the body. Glands majorly consist of secretary epithelial cells that can secrete enzymes, ions, hormones, mucin, or urea to be eliminated from the body. There are two types of glands, namely endocrine and exocrine glands.
