Introduction: Skin cells in the mammals that are receiving regular exposure to sunlight produces vitamin D from the precursor 7-dehydrocholesterol. Blood Ca2+ concentration does not decrease due to the secretion of parathyroid hormone. Bone cells release extra Ca2+ from the bones thereby increasing the concentration of calcium in the blood.
