An experiment was designed and conducted to analyze the uptake of sucrose in the plant cells. (a) The hypothesis for the decrease in pH, if plant cells are immersed in a sucrose solution. Introduction:
The plant cells were immersed in a sucrose solution in a beaker. The movement of the sucrose and water ions will take place by the process of diffusion and osmosis respectively in the beaker. The hypothesis given by the scientists proposes the movement of the hydrogen and sucrose ions inside the plant cells through the plasma membrane with the help of the co-transporter protein channels.
To evaluate: The hypothesis for the decrease in pH, if the plant cells are immersed in a sucrose solution.
(b)
To determine: The result that was obtained, if an inhibitor of ATP regeneration was added in the beaker once the pH reached a steady level.
