Answers to all problems are at the end of this book. Detailed solutions are available in the Student Solutions Manual, Study Guide, and Problems Book.

Solving the Sequence of an Oligopeptide From Sequence Analysis Data Amino acid analysis of a decapeptide revealed the presence of the following products:

Chapter 5, Problem 3P, Answers to all problems are at the end of this book. Detailed solutions are available in the Student , example 1

The following facts were observed:

  1. Neither car boxy peptidase A nor B treatment of the- decapeptide had any effect.
  2. Trypsin treatment yielded two tetrapcptides and free Lys.
  3. Clostripain treatment yielded a tetrapcptide and a hexapeptidc.
  4. Cyanogen bromide treatment yielded an octapeptide and a dipeptide of sequence NP (using the one-letter codes).
  5. Chymotrypsin treatment yielded two tripeptides and a telrapeptide. The N-terminal chymotryptic peptide had a net charge of — 1 at neutral pi I and a net charge of —3 al pH 12.
  6. One cycle of Ed man degradation gave the PTH derivative

Biochemistry What is the process of "transamination" in either the muscles or the liver, that involves keto acid or glutamic acid? Please explain how the steps work. Thank you!
Biochemistry Please help. Thank you What is the importance of glutamic acid in the metabolism of nitrogen from amino acids? (we know therole; it’s used to remove the nitrogen from amino acids so that the remaining carbon skeleton can bebroken down by the “usual” pathways, but what is the important, unique role that only glutamicacid/glutamate can do?)
