The five major components of an information technology (IT) infrastructure are:
- Computer hardware:
- Technology used to process the computer, storing the data, input and output.
- Computer software:
- It includes both system software and application software.
- Data management technology:
- This component is responsible for organizing, managing, and processing business data that is related to the inventory, customers, and vendors.
- Networking and telecommunications technologies:
- This component is responsible for providing data, voice, and video connectivity to employees, customers, and suppliers.
- Technology services:
- This component is responsible for the consultants who manage and run the infrastructure components.
