1. I agree to the fact that a language is the essence of a culture. The most difficult part of learning a language is to learn expressions that are closely related to the culture. The idiomatic expressions are examples of that. There is no way to know the meaning of idiomatic expressions without having a teacher explaining them to us. We do things according to what our parents and grandparents have thought us to do. It is difficult to use the metric system in the USA for example and similarly it is difficult to use the English system in Latin American Countries.
2. The Three Kings represent good believers of God. That is why in Puerto Rico the three kings are popular religious figures. Another reason could be that many people from Puerto Rico have African heritage and one of the Kings is African American. In other Latin American countries, the virgin Mary, Jesus and other saints such as San Simon and San Juan are popular figures among Catholics.
