Imbalance in sex ratio may arise as an effect of various factors such as natural factors, exposure to various contaminated chemicals, pesticides, and other environmental contaminants. Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs) are widespread environmental contaminants that possess teratogenic and oncogenic properties. These chemicals increase the male/female ratio. The maternal contamination with PCBs is also connected with low birth weight and shorter height in males.
