Concept explainers
In Questions 1—4, simplify each expression. Aside from what we covered in the Group portion of this lesson, here are some things you should keep in mind:
Order of operations: Multiplication always comes before addition or subtraction.
The distributive property is needed when multiplying a number or variable by a sum or difference.
When subtracting, don’t forget to subtract EVERY term in an expression. That’s what the parentheses are there for!
