Summary Introduction
To determine: The possible reasons behind the detection of electrical changes in the heart using electrodes placed on the surface of the skin.
Introduction: Beating of the heart is an electrical phenomenon. This phenomenon is controlled by a group of specialized cells called the sinoatrial node (SA) present in the right atrium. SA node is responsible for maintaining the rhythm of the heartbeat. Another group of cells called the atrioventricular node is present between the atria and ventricle and is responsible for slowing down the impulse before it is transferred to the ventricle. This node is important as it allows the atrium to contract before the ventricle.
