Question
Chapter 47.1, Problem 2CC
Summary Introduction
To explain: The prediction of events that will happen if calcium ion (Ca2+) is injected into an unfertilized egg.
Concept introduction:

question: based on the graph, how could you best describe the relationship between the egg size (mass) and the number of eggs?
what would be a reason to observe the relationship between the two?
from what I have read about, there are several factors that can influence both the size and the number of eggs. also, its not just in butterflies where you can have larger eggs but less in quantity or smaller eggs and more in quantity. I'm trying to just figure out what a good reason for the observation would be based on the graph
Please ASAP. Thank you

(See Figure 38.6.)arrow_forwardQ28: Please type the answer to this question Some salamanders exhibit neoteny, becoming sexually mature while still retaining some larval characteristics. In some species, the neotenic characteristics have become a permanent state of the species (obligate neoteny = paedogenesis; both are called paedomorphic conditions). These have lost the ability to undergo complete metamorphosis (hellbender, amphiuma, and mudpuppy). In others, the animal does not undergo complete metamorphosis in nature, but can be induced to do so in the lab. An example of this is the Mexican axolotl (Ambystoma mexicanum), a large gilled salamander found in Mexico. In some species of salamanders, members of a population exhibit neoteny only when they are under stressful environmental conditions (such as crowding, scarce food, low concentrations of trace elements). This is called facultative neoteny. Tiger Salamanders (Ambvstoma tigrinum) frequently do this, but local populations of marbled salamanders show a…arrow_forward
