To determine:

How potassium and water movements open and close stomata, and describe the stimuli that trigger these movements.

Introduction:

The water movement across the plant body is regulated by transpiration. Loss of water in the mesophyll region of the plant is regulated by opening and closing of the stomata. The water loss due to transpiration creates a negative pressure in the xylem which causes upward movement of the water.
