Introduction:

Water and mineral uptake is important for cell growth. Water is transported inside the cell by osmosis. Minerals move inside the epidermis by active transportation, by certain cellular proteins. After water and minerals move inside the epidermis, they are transported across the cortex by two channels, intercellular channel and extracellular channel, to finally reach xylem.
