Chapter 43, Problem 7PL
Summary Introduction
To Determine: If the given statement is true or false.
Introduction: Blood typing involves identifying the protein substances called antigens that are present on the outer surfaces of red blood cell membranes. Many different antigens are associated with the human red blood cells, and a few of them are of clinical importance. These include the antigens of the ABO group and those of the Rh group.

Suppose a newborn baby was accidentally mixed up in the Dr. Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital. In an effort to determine the parents of the baby, the blood types of the baby and two sets of parents were determined: 1. Baby Digs had type O. 2. Mrs. Cruz had type B while Mr. Cruz had type AB. 3. Mrs. Reyes had type B while Mr. Reyes had type B.
1. What is the probability of having type A child with the blood type of Mr. and Mrs. Cruz?
A. 0% or 25%
B. 0% or 50%
C. 50% or 100%
D. 50% only
2. What is the probability of having type A child with the blood type of Mr. and Mrs. Reyes?
A. 0% only
B. 0% or 50%
C. 50% or 100%
D. 50% only
3. Which parents does Baby Digs belongs to?
A. Mr. Cruz type AB and Mrs. Cruz with homozygous type B
B. Mr. Cruz type AB and Mrs. Cruz with heterozygous type B
C. Mr. Reyes and Mrs. Reyes both homozygous type B
D. Mr. Reyes and Mrs. Reyes both heterozygous type B
