A segment of nephron of a rat was placed in a solution of known composition. At the end of the segment, when the fluid collection was compared with that at the start of the experiment, it was found that the volume of fluid as well as sodium ions reduced by 30 percent each. However, there was a 50 percent increase in the concentration of urea. Determine the processes that took place in the nephron segment, which resulted in these changes.

Reabsorption is the process, by which the important components (water and certain solutes) required by the body are again absorbed from the filtrate into the bloodstream before they get excreted from the body. It is one of the important functions performed by the nephron as well as the CD or collecting duct.
