Steroid hormones are synthesized from cholesterol and released immediately into the bloodstream (the hormone circulates in the blood by binding to plasma protein, as it is insoluble in the blood). They are fat soluble small molecules and can pass through the cell membrane. For example; sex hormone (testosterone and estrogen), aldosterone and cortisol.
