Interpretation:

Frequency of laser light that has a wavelength of 633nm has to be calculated.

Concept Introduction:

Radio waves, infrared light, X-rays, gamma rays, microwaves and visible light are all the forms of electromagnetic radiation.  In electromagnetic spectrum, wavelength is the distance between two successive crests or trough.  Number of crests passing a given point per second is known as frequency.  Wavelength (λ) and frequency (ν) are inversely related.  Speed at which a wave travels is the product of frequency and wavelength.  This is expressed by an equation given below.

    c=λν

Where

    c is the speed of light (2.9979×108ms1)

    λ is the wavelength.

    ν is the frequency.
