Concept introduction: Sugar is the dietary carbohydrate usually taken with our regular food habits. The human body stores glucose as glycogen and plant stores as starches. Dietary fiber is the important structural part of a plant that is mainly found in fruits, vegetables, and whole grain diets.
Explanation of Solution
The effect of starch and fibers on weight management:
The whole grain foods and high-fiber foods are able to manage the body weight of the person for a healthy life. The high fiber foods tend to less in solid fat and added sugars. Therefore, high fiber foods are able to avoid the weight gain and encourage weight loss by distributing less energy per intake of food. Fibers are also able to absorb water part from digestive juice and create the feeling of fullness in the stomach.

The foods with added sugar and higher carbohydrate contribute to weight gain rather than other foods.
