“ORDER BY” Clause:
- User can sort the data in specific order using “ORDER BY” clause.
- The column on which to sort data is called a sort key or a simple key.
- To sort the output, use an “ORDER BY” clause followed by the sort key.
- If the user does not specify a sort order, the output displayed in default order that is ascending order.
Example:
The example for “ORDER BY” clause is given below:
SELECT STUDENT_ID, STUDENT_NAME, STUDENT_CREDIT FROM STUDENT ORDER BY STUDENT_CREDIT;
Explanation:
The above query is used to list student ID, name and credit for each student with ascending order of student credit using an “ORDER BY” clause.
- From the given query, the sort key is “STUDENT_CREDIT”. So, the rows are sorted in ascending order by “STUDENT_CREDIT”.
Explanation of Solution
Most important key:
- The more important column is called the most important key.
- It is also called as the major sort key or the primary sort key.
Example:
The example for most important key is given below:
SELECT STUDENT_ID, STUDENT_NAME, STUDENT_CREDIT FROM STUDENT ORDER B...
Explanation of Solution
Less important key:
- The less important column is called the most important key.
- It is also called as the minor sort key or the secondary sort key.
Example:
The example for less important key is given below:
SELECT STUDENT_ID, STUDENT_NAME, STUDENT_CREDIT FROM STUDENT ORDER...

- SQL A table Products have: a name (TEXT) a description (TEXT) a unit cost stored in cents (INTEGER) and of course we also add an id column to identify them. Separately, we'd like to track the number of items in stock for each product. To do so we'll have a store and an inventory table. Stores have just an id and a name. Then, our inventory table should combine stores and products, listing how much of each product each store has in stock. a product_id (INTEGER) a store_id (INTEGER) a quantity (INTEGER) in stock Now we can insert some stores, products and inventory into our database. There are 2 stores -- one called NY and one called NJ. There are 2 products we are concerned with. Their names are sneakers, costing $220 (remember this is dollars!) and boots costing $350. Use any description for each that you'd like. NY has 4 sneakers in stock and 3 boots. NJ has 5 sneakers in stock and no boots. Insert the above data into the tables you have created.arrow_forwardSQL Query For Given Problemarrow_forwardUSE NORTHWIND DATABASE Write a SELECT statement using the CASE function.
