- The Mitchell family took a road trip from Detroit to Toronto. Their route was 750 kilometers long and required 54liters of gas. (a) What was the fuel efficiency in miles per gallon? Round to the nearest tenth. (b) Suppose the Mitchells plan to drive to Washington, D.C. on their next road trip. Assuming they get the samemileage as you calculated in part a, calculate the cost of their 1060-mile route if gasoline costs $2.35 pergallon.arrow_forwardDr. Neil Goodman, Professor of Fine Arts at Indiana University Northwest, encountered the following (true story - the numbers are changed to protect the innocent): He won a contract to create a bronze sculpture in a shape of a 1/2 inch thick sphere in front of Soldier Field Stadium in Chicago. Originally, his proposal was to create a sphere with 36 inches in diameter, however he decided to increase the size of the sculpture and create one with 42 inches in diameter. The weight of bronze is approximately 0.315 pounds per cubic inch of material. The cost was about $200 per pound of material (without accounting for everything - just basic cost). What is the difference in this basic cost between creating a sculpture with diameter 36 inches versus the one with 42 inches? (Since the funding was fixed, how much did his decision to increase the diameter by 1/2 foot cost?)arrow_forwardA power company charges one household $0.12 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) and $14.89 in monthly taxes.a. - A rectangular glass room 13m 43cm long, 943 cm wide and 3360 mm high is to be fully covered with curtains so that no one can see through. The width of the curtain material is 1.25 yards. Each roll of curtain material is 25000mm long and cost $ 1025.95. The length of each curtain includes a 9 cm for turnover at the top and 40 mm at the bottom. 1.Calculate the length of glass room to be covered with curtains. (round off answer to 2 decimal places ) 2. What length of material is needed for each curtain? 3. Calculate the number of curtains required to fully cover the room? 4. What total length of curtain material, in metres, is required to fully cover the room? 5. Ho many yards is this? 6.How many rolls of the curtain material is required to complete the job? 7.
