Question
Chapter 38, Problem 2TYU
Summary Introduction
Introduction: Plant hormones are chemical molecules produced by plants in extremely low concentration for regulating growth and development. There are five major hormones involved in the growth process. They are auxin, gibberellin, ethylene, abscisic acid, and cytokinin. Each of these hormones has their own functions at specific locations. The presence of these hormones in a definite amount is very essential for the normal growth and development of the plant.

Experiments showed that weakening of the abscission zone was not caused by either the lamp's light or heat. Instead the research on this phenomenon led to the discovery of a new gaseous plant hormone. What is this hormone? Ethylene Abscisic acid (ABA) Gibberellins Auxin Strigolactone Cytokininarrow_forward

- As plants grow, they tend to align theirstems and roots along the direction of the gravitational field. This tendency, which is related to differential concentrations of planthormones known as auxins, is referred to as gravitropism. As an illustration of gravitropism, experiments show that seedlings placed inpots on the rim of a rotating turntable do not grow in the verticaldirection. Do you expect their stems to tilt inward—toward the axisof rotation—or outward—away from the axis of rotation?arrow_forwardPlant cells communicate in a variety of ways to elicit cellular responses.
