To determine: The differences between comparative psychology and behavioral ecology.
Introduction: The actions, as well as mannerisms performed by a living organism or an artificial system in conjunction with themselves or due to stimulus from the external environment consisting of other animals and inanimate objects, is called behavior. Animal behavior constitutes of the different types of interactions that an animal has with its environment.

Explanation of Solution
No. | Criteria | Comparative psychology | Behavioral ecology |
1. | Definition | It is the field which involves the study of the behavior and mental processes of animals other than humans. | It is the field which involves the study of behavioral interactions among the living organisms within a population or community, usually in terms of evolution. |
2. | Aims | The aim of comparative psychology is to find behavioral laws that apply to multiple species and is accomplished through laboratory experiments. | The goal of behavioral ecology is to describe the ways by which the behavior of an animal maximizes the reproductive and evolutionary success of that animal. |
3. | Fields studied | This field involves the study of neurological and behavioral similarities and dissimilarities. | This field involves the study of both the evolutionary and environmental contexts of the behavior. |
To comment: The aims and methods employed by both comparative psychology and behavioral ecology.
Introduction: Behavioral biologists aim to study the mechanisms of immediate or proximate causation, experimentally and the ultimate causation, including both evolutionary origin and purpose of behavior. The study of animal behavior involves three main approaches, comparative psychology, ethology and behavioral ecology.

Explanation of Solution
The field of comparative psychology aims to find the laws of behavior which can be applied to several animal species, including humans. This was accomplished by comparing the experimental results of several species to determine the neurological and behavioral differences and similarities.
The field of behavioral ecology aims to study the evolutionary and environmental contexts of the behavior of animals in order to identify the ways by which a specific animal behavior can lead to the reproductive and evolutionary success of that animal.
